I dread to think how many beakers, drink bottles and cups I’ve bought in 12 years of parenting for my kids to get water down them.
Sippy beakers, anyway up cups, non-spill this or that. Some too low capacity that didn’t last one playground trip before needing refilling, some that cracked easily, some stainless steel options (in an effort to avoid harmful plastics) that were ridiculously heavy once filled, yada yada.
And then there’s the number of things we’ve tried to provide a bit of low lighting for the kids while they sleep. Ugh. How many?! Loads. Just loads. Simple small pluggy inny ones from a general hardware store, dedicated ones for kids with Disney theme of choice, mobiles with music when they were younger and I can’t remember what else. I don’t know why we’ve been so unlucky with them up til now.
Anyway, severely challenged on the ‘drinking receptacle that will last more than one ruddy year’ and ‘night light that actually works’ front, I was more than a little intrigued and excited when Litecup contacted me.
I’ll be honest, when the company found me on Twitter, I almost zoomed past the Litecup followed you’ notification. This was partly because keeping abreast of my Twitter followers is not one of my strong points but mainly because most of the brands that approach me generally market products geared towards children much younger than mine. Luckily I spotted Litecup and noticed their image which despite featuring a child younger than any of mine still peaked my interest. End result: a gorgeous lime green cup (they have a whole array of colours to choose from by the way) sent to me a few days later, for my youngest to try out. I had fingers and every crossable appendage crossed that I had finally found the answer to my tiresome search for a beaker that didn’t drive me bonkers.
So…did the Litecup come up to scratch in my opinion?
Well I decided that if a picture paints a thousand words, then a video is even better. So I shot a wee vlogette about how we’re getting on with the Litecup. Yes those are my youngest’s hands clutching her cup just before going to bed. Watch my litecup vlog review to find out what she/I thought. (Naturellement, if you end up checking out the rest of my YouTube channel, I shan’t complain).
NB:in this vlog I mention the Litecup being geared towards toddlers. Since shooting this, I’ve noticed from images sent to me for possible use in this post that it is in fact also meant for older children.
I also say it is not meant for outdoor use. Whilst I personally choose to keep the litecup for home use only, for reasons of my own, again I’ve noticed the company’s marketing materials showing it being used out and about.

I’M SLIGHTLY OBSESSED WITH LIGHTHOUSES.
I don’t know when it started but I really do gravitate towards anything of the lighthouse variety. (I er may have steered Dreamy D, into having a nautical-themed room now that he’s no longer sharing with his sisters, ahem.) As a blogger, I get followed every day by new people on Twitter, for which I’m grateful. But I’ll be honest, what with the blog post writing, site tech maintenance, Instagramming, Facebook posts, linkies, brand approaches and what not (oh and the small matter of raising three kids), my Twitter radar is sometimes a little off and it takes me a few days to spot certain new followers.
WHEN LUCAS FRANK, PURVEYORS OF THOROUGHLY BRITISH BOYS’ CLOTHING, FOLLOWED ME ON TWITTER, I NOTICED THEM.
Because. Logo. Lighthouse. Yep, that’s all it took. I just love them! Well, it wasn’t just the lighthouse logo. I obviously perused Lucas Frank’s website to check out their thoroughly British boys’ clothing range. (Having left the UK several years ago, I get a bit wistful about the Brit thing and have an inordinate amount of Union Jack items in my house but I digress). I now live in a country where we do not have throughly British weather, however. Far from it, we have about 300 days of sunshine a year (yes I manage to mention it in every other blog post!), an average temperature of 34 degrees through the long summer and pretty much live in flip flops from May to October. Well obviously, we wear a little more than just flip flops. Musical M and Cheeky K obviously have a full range of summer gear but for boys, well, wardrobe choices tend to be more limited don’t they? T-shirts and shorts are de rigueur for Dreamy D and he’s been wearing the same stuff for ages. Also, although he is very small for his age, a lot of his summer gear is no longer fits. You know where I’m going with this don’t you? Yes!

When they then contacted me soon after following me, the timing was unreal. I’d just returned from the new kids’ clothing store that has opened up the road, with a truck load of swimwear and tops for the girls but frustratingly nothing for D, the one who needed new stuff the most! I was getting the kids and a hundred bags out of the car at the end of a long week and almost fell out of the driver’s side in excitement when I saw the message asking if I’d like to review one of their products,. Er yes please…I should coco! I thought. I may or may not have sent a ‘squealing’ response back there and then, one-handed, still laden with a dozen bags in the other arm. I’m either a desperate mother or just one dedicated blogger. Anyway, Neal and Billy were a pleasure to deal with and an item of my choice was dispatched.

– distressed LF initials upper right (huge fan of distressed images so me very likey)
– two Lacrosse sticks on the back which I love
– white collars which Hubster found a little wide but I didn’t notice this and neither did D
It comes with a tag that has a charming little blurb on the front about the type of boy who wears Lucas Frank clothing; on the back there is a reference to girls. Ahem!
Right, the all important sizing. Hubster and I are not exactly the tallest of people; I’m 5ft 1.5 (stop laughing…the 0.5 is really important and I’m taller than Kylie I’ll have you know) and although Hubs is taller than me, he’s hardly Amazonian. More erm, Indian, surprise surprise. Basically, I make teeny tiny babies. Gene pool and all that. So buying clothing that fits my diddy sprogs can be a challenge. Although I requested the 7-8 yo size for my small 9 yo boy, the rugby shirt was in fact on the larger side. Cheeky K cracked me up when she saw it and said ‘Oh I thought it was for Papa’. I can confirm it wasn’t that big! It just goes with the territory and you can’t predict the size when ordering clothes online (my husband regularly does with varied success and I’ve been known to buy from the kids’ department for myself as adult sizes can be huge on me!) Fact is, I could buy D a top from Zara, Gap, Next, Hillfiger etc and they’ll all be sized differently.
Although the shoulder line is lower than D’s own and the shirt is on the long side for him, it is a rugby shirt as opposed to a T-shirt, the latter tending to fall between the waist and hip line while rugby and polo tops fall a little lower. But I think he got away with wearing it and looks great! However, as the Lucas Frank range is made with heavier weight fabrics geared towards the cooler British climate, this top is best reserved (in fact perfect) for our mild Autumn. Summer is kicking off here in Malta meaning we’ll be half naked by July, begging for mercy and wearing only the thinnest of clothing because of the aforementioned heat.
IN CONCLUSION, I AM VERY SATISFIED WITH OUR FIRST ITEM FROM LUCAS FRANK AND WOULD HAPPILY ORDER PRODUCTS FROM THEM.
I’ve already mentally picked out the Shergham Point and Lennard Island Rugby shirts and the Bardsey Grass Stain Polo Shirt particularly as D has had to part company with two beloved tops that are now way too small. He may well open his wardrobe this Autumn to find them in there…
If you have a young man in your life aged up to 12 years, I’d recommend you take a look at their products. The various Tees and shirts etc in the Lucas Frank collection come out at an average price point of 13GBP which is a respectable amount in my opinion.
As for the young man in my life, I can safely say he loved his new LF shirt and told me so unprompted, which is a minor miracle as it’s usually impossible to get information out of him! When asked for his overall score, Dreamy D who is more difficult to impress than his older sister is, gave it a…
..10 out of 10!

Made from natural rubber that is derived from the sap of the Hevea tree, Sophie became a success in France where she originated due to her unique design that not only brought relief to hard-to-reach molars but entertained babies through her appealing look and squeaky tummy. Over the years, she has become a very popular teething aid in many other countries including the USA where she even made an appearance in the hit film Three Men and a Baby. So to mark the occasion of Sophie’s 54th birthday, celebratory campaigns are taking place all over the shop (play on words totally intended) including at Roseberry Cosmetics here in Malta. As part of the birthday celebrations, Roseberry gave me the teether as well as two gorgeous creams to try out.
Now, although I’m having a devil of a job trying to get two of my kids dry at night, all three of mine are long past the teething stage. So I gave this product to someone who has a 9 month-old baby girl.
THIS IS WHAT MY FRIEND SAID:
She absolutely loves chewing on it. It’s the only teether that has interested her. It looks sweet as well and is easy for her to hold. My only issue with it would be that the hole that the squeaky noise comes through appears to be open, allowing water to go inside it. As long as one doesn’t soak it it should be ok. I’ve washed it twice and there doesn’t appear to be any water inside it. Might be good for the manufacturer to reassure parents that the hole stops and doesn’t allow for stale water build up inside (if that’s the case, I can’t really tell). Anyway, very high marks for being her favourite toy, and one she can safely chew on.

As for the Face cream…well I hung onto that myself! I have lived in Malta for almost nine years and the quest to find skincare for my children that is not chock full of synthetic additives, parabens and chemical fragrances has been totally frustrating. Although the face cream does contain two forms of alchohol which made me a bit nervous, I have to admit my kids are love love loving this cream, having used it for the last ten days (at the time of writing). We love things like shea butter, blueberry oil, vanilla bean oil and sunflower seed oil in my house.
BABY PROTECTION CREAM
I was also lucky enough to be given the Baby protection cream. At the time of writing, this is still in use by a friend as it lasts a while and her initial feedback has been very good. The jojoba oil, shea butter, coconut butter, lavender water and white tea extracts are just up her street and she has currently stopped using her previous cream which was the standard ‘conventional’ pharmaceutial nappy cream.
